IBPS SO Syllabus and Exam Pattern – 2018-19


The IBPS conducts the recruitment to the Specialist Officer post in three steps as per the official notification released for the year 2018-19. Apart from the three stages of the exam, it is important to note the role played by the professional knowledge subjects which makes up the major part of the Mains examination.

The first two steps are written exams conducted online and the final step is an Interview conducted by the IBPS along with all participating bodies on the basis of the marks obtained for the written exams.

The IBPS SO syllabus is different for both preliminary and mains examinations. Exam pattern for the Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari post is different from that set for all the other Specialist Officer posts.

A candidate needs to have proficient knowledge in his/her area of expertise. Apart from this professional knowledge, major sections that are vital in clearing this exam are

  • English language
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Quantitative Aptitude/ General Awareness

The Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS) has announced the IBPS Specialist Officer exams through an official notification for the year 2018-19. The exam pattern this tear has seen changes in comparison to the previous year.

For the Rajbhasha Adhikari post, the professional Knowledge paper is divided into two sections and the Maximum Marks for this paper is 60.
