RRB JE Examination 2019: Syllabus

RRB has invited application from eligible candidates to fill the reported 13,487 Junior Engineer posts across the country. Candidates with a degree or a diploma in engineering are eligible for these posts. Interested candidates can fill their application through the RRB website on or before 31 January 2019.

The selection process includes two stages of Computer-Based Test , Document verification and Medical Test. 

The stage 01 CBT will be common for all trades and the stage 02 CBT will have 100 technical questions from the candidates preferred engineering trade.

Syllabus for Stage 01 CBT

Duration : 90 minutes

Total Number of Questions : 100

Mathematics – 30 questions

  • Number systems –  BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF,
  • Ratio and Proportion, Percentages,
  • Mensuration, Geometry, Trigonometry,
  • Time and Work, Time and Distance, Pipes & Cistern
  • Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss,
  • Algebra, Elementary Statistics, Square Root,
  • Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock.

General Intelligence and Reasoning – 25 questions

  • Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding,
  • Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling,
  • Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making,
  • Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions,
  • Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

 General Awareness  – 15 questions

  •  Current affairs,
  • Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle,
  • Indian Polity and constitution,
  • Indian Economy,
  • Environmental issues concerning India and the World,
  • Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.

General Science – 30 questions

  • Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences ( CBSE syllabus – up to 10th Standard)

Each question carries equal marks , 1 marks for every correct answer and will get a deduction of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer.

Syllabus for Stage 02 CBT :

Duration : 120 minutes

Total Number of Questions : 150

General Awareness : 15 Questions

  • Current affairs
  • Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle
  • Indian Polity and constitution
  • Indian Economy
  • Environmental issues concerning India and the World
  • Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.

Physics and Chemistry: 15 Questions

Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus

Basics of Computers and Applications : 10 questions

  • Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices,
  • Networking, Operating System like Windows, Unix,
    Linux; MS Office;
  • Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.

Basics of Environment and Pollution Control : 10 Questions

  • Basics of Environment
  • the Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control
  • Waste Management
  • Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.

Technical Abilities: 100 Questions
