RRB NTPC Recruitment 2019 – Books for Reference


RRB has invited applications from graduates and undergraduates to fill the 44531 vacant nontechnical positions. The selection process involves two stages of Computer Based Test(CBT) following the Aptitude test and Skill test and the document verification process.

Stage 01 CBT is common for all the posts, while stage 02 is different for each CPC level posts. For both stage 01 and stage, 02 examination syllabus is common and the only difference will be in the difficulty level of the paper.

Phase 01 Computer Based Test ( 100 questions, 90 minutes)
Phase 02 Computer Based Test (120 questions, 90 minutes)
General Intelligence and Reasoning

This section is the best friend for scoring. Reasoning section is easy to understand and the best way to score marks in any competitive examinations. The daily practice and basic understanding of the topics can make magic in the scorecard. Most of the questions in this section are of repeating nature. For the beginners, ‘General Intelligence and Reasoning by R.S.Agarwal ‘ and the books from Kiran Publications are best. Along with these, previous year question papers and question banks are more than enough for these sections.

General Awareness

This section is so vast and dynamic and unpredictable. Daily newspaper reading along with the NCERT textbooks are the best way for mastering the GK section in any examination. NCERT textbooks from class 06 – 10 is the best and probably the only reference material required for the static part. Standard national dailies like ‘The Hindu’ will boost the daily current affair preparations. You can find the multiple-choice questions based on NCERT and the daily current affairs on the ‘Entri’ app.

Mathematics / quantitative aptitude section is comparatively harder for the majority. For the mathematics session, before starting the practice session candidates should have a basic understanding of the concepts. NCERT textbooks are the best source for clearing the concepts. After understanding the concepts candidates can start practicing the previous year questions. Candidates should try to solve a problem within a minute or within 30 seconds. Daily practice is the only way for solving the questions within this short time. Quantitative Aptitude For Competitive Examinations – R. S. Aggarwal is the most popular textbook for the students for preparing the mathematics session. This textbook can be used to build up the foundations.
