RRB RRC Group D Examination 2019 – Syllabus & Preparation Tips

Railway Recruitment Boards have invited applications from eligible candidates behalf of RRC for the Level 01 posts(under 7th CPC). 103769 vacancies are reported from 16 railway boards. Positions like Assistant points man, Assistant Bridge, Track Maintenance Grade 4 etc. are recruiting through this selection process.


Exam Pattern

For RRC selection process there is only single stage CBT . Since the preferred education is equivalent to matriculation level, candidates can expect questions from Xth level(CBSE).


  • Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF,
  • Ratio and Proportion, Percentages,
  • Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry,
  • Time and Work, Time and Distance,
  • Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss,
  • Elementary Statistics, Square root,
  • Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

Students should start their preparation from NCERT textbooks to have a better understanding. NCERT textbooks will help to understand the basics and to clear the doubts. Previous year question papers will help to understand the question methods. Daily practice is necessary for scoring this part. Quantitative section can either make you or break you during the test.

General Intelligence and reasoning

  • Analogies,
  • Alphabetical and Number Series,
  • Coding and Decoding,
  • Mathematical operations, Relationships,
  • Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram,
  • Data Interpretation and Sufficiency,
  • Conclusions and Decision making,

For Reasoning part previous year question papers can help the candidates to have perfect score . This part has a tendency to repeat the question models. Working out atleast 10 question papers will help to boost the performance.

General Awareness

  • Current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities,
  • Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance.
